Spice Cake

Ingredients

3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup raisins
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
2 teaspoons baking powder

Preheat oven to 375° oven for layer cake
Preheat oven to 350° oven for 9 x 13 cake
Preheat oven to 370° oven for individual cakes

Directions

Cream together the butter, brown sugar and
egg until light and fluffy.

Stir in the raisins, salt and spices.

Mix well.

Add half of the flour.

Blend in the baking soda and the milk.

Stir in the remaining flour and baking powder.

For a layer cake: Pour batter into two greased and floured 9 inch cake pans. 
Bake at 375° for 20 or 25 minutes or until the top springs back when touched, or
use a cake tester.

For a 9 x 13 pan:  Pour batter into greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan.
Bake at 350° for 40 or 45 minutes or until the top springs back when touched, or
use a cake tester. Frost in pan.

For individual shaped pans:  Pour patter into greased and floured pans.
Bake at 370° for 20 or 25 minutes or until the top springs back when touched, or
use a cake tester.
